Tree Condition Surveys

A survey covering health, safety and structural integrity of individual and groups of trees.

This is an assessment following LANTRA and QTRA methodology to single or groups of trees, to assess the safety of the trees and to protect people and property. It is prudent for allLandowners, tree owners and commercial property owners to obtain a tree condition survey, also known as a tree safety survey, to ensure any potential hazards can be rectified before any damage or harm is caused.

The report will contain the following details:

Tree location, species, size, tree’s health, overall condition, photographs and aesthetic value to the landscape.

Make recommendations on the works required to manage the trees safely to and highlight and eradicate any risks moving forward.

Tree Survey BS 5837

This is a detailed survey on or near a proposed development site requested by homeowners or construction companies. Recommendations are provided on how to best protect nearby trees.

5 Day Notice – A 5-day notice for tree works is a formal notification to your Local PlanningAuthority (LPA) regarding urgent, necessary works covering trees that are protected by a TreePreservation Order (TPO) or in Conservation Area for trees that are dead, dying, or dangerous. It allows tree owners to bypass the standard 6-to-8-week application process to mitigate immediate risks.

Tree Preservation Orders

If any works are required to trees covered by Tree Preservation Orders (TPO’s) we can advise and submit applications to LPA (Northumberland County Council). It is a criminal offence to cut down, top, lop uproot, wilfully damage or destroy a tree subject to a TPO. Tree Owners must get our written consent before carrying out any work to a tree that is covered by a TPO. Failure to obtain consent could result in prosecution and a fine of up to £20,000. The exception to this is where the entire tree or part of the tree is dead, dying or dangerous. In this case, consent is not needed to remove the dead wood or to fell the tree. Tree Owners need proof to demonstrate that the tree was dead, dying or dangerous.

Conservation Areas – If any works are required in Conservation Areas we can advise and submit applications to the LPA (Northumberland County Council) Tree Owners must inform the LPA, in writing, there intention to carry out work to a tree which is situated in a Conservation Area if the trunk has a diameter of 7.5 cm or more measured at 1.5 m above ground. Applications can take up to 8 weeks.
